These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the Fundations plugin, the Fundations Pro add-on, and the getfundations.com website. By installing the plugin or purchasing a Pro license, you agree to these terms.
1. The plugin
The free Fundations plugin is distributed on WordPress.org under the GNU General Public License version 2.0 or later (GPL-2.0+). You may use, copy, modify, and distribute it under the terms of the GPL. No purchase or account is required.
Fundations Pro is a commercial add-on distributed as a self-hosted plugin download. It is also released under GPL-2.0+ as required for compatibility with WordPress. A valid license key, purchased through getfundations.com, is required to activate and receive updates.
Both plugins require WordPress 5.0 or later, PHP 7.4 or later, and a block theme (Full Site Editing). We do not guarantee compatibility with every third-party plugin or theme.
2. Pro license
A Fundations Pro license grants you the right to activate the Pro plugin on the number of sites specified in your plan. Licenses are non-transferable unless explicitly permitted by your plan.
License validity is checked via the Appsero SDK. Your site URL and basic environment data (WordPress version, PHP version, plugin version) are sent to Appsero for this purpose. See the Privacy Policy for details.
An active license includes access to plugin updates delivered through the WordPress admin. Updates cease when a license expires. The plugin continues to function after expiry, but no further updates or support are provided until the license is renewed.
You may not resell, sublicense, or distribute Fundations Pro outside the terms of the GPL. You may not use the plugin or the service to operate fundraising campaigns that violate applicable law.
3. Acceptable use
You may use Fundations to operate legitimate fundraising and crowdfunding sites. You may not use Fundations:
- For fraudulent, deceptive, or illegal fundraising
- To collect donations for organisations or causes that violate applicable law
- In a way that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others
- To distribute malware or harmful code through the plugin or its extensions
We reserve the right to terminate access to Pro services for accounts engaged in prohibited use.
4. Your responsibilities as a site operator
If you use Fundations to collect donations on your site, you are responsible for:
- Complying with all applicable laws governing online fundraising in your jurisdiction
- Providing an appropriate privacy policy to your donors
- Complying with data protection law (GDPR, CCPA, or equivalent) for donor personal data
- Confirming that your payment gateway account terms permit the fundraising activities on your site
- Telling donors how their data is used
We are not responsible for the fundraising activities conducted on sites running Fundations.
5. Disclaimer of warranties
Fundations is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the plugin will be error-free, uninterrupted, or compatible with all environments. Use at your own risk.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the plugin or the getfundations.com service, including lost revenue, lost data, or site downtime.
7. Refunds
Refunds for Fundations Pro are governed by the Refund Policy.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms are subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in the Netherlands.
